I’m excited to attend my first New York conference with SCBWI, the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. This conference focuses on a deep dive into the craft of writing, hearing from many New York publishing experts, and of course attending the Golden Kite gala, featuring awards for the best in children’s lit. Gotta find a bedazzling, golden blouse to wear!

This conference is rated by Writer magazine as one of the best of the best in the nation, and I can say with certainty that it’s a great one. I’ve been honored to be a speaker several years now. This year I’ll only be there one day, but hoping to soak up lots of writerly tidbits and happy vibes.
My illustrator husband, fantasy artist Jeff Miracola, and I put on a spectacular five-day workshop for aspiring and professional illustrators. We have an awesome lineup, full of some of the best talents in the business, and these pros are ready to help you take your art to the next level. I’m heading to LA for the annual summer conference of SCBWI, the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. This conference brings in a bevy of top industry writers, illustrators, agents, editors, and publishers. And there’s the dance party. Can’t forget that!
SCBWI-Wisconsin’s fall event is a can’t miss. This year I’m helping to run the event with my co-regional advisor, Rochelle Groskreutz. Come meet and learn from publishing pros and connect with like-minded creators.
